Werder vs Bayern: Preview, Possible Lineups & Prediction

Werder Bremen are up against Bayern Munich on Saturday, February 14, 2026, at the Weserstadion. The match kicks off at 3:30 PM CET (2:30 PM GMT / 3:30 PM WAT). Bayern are sitting pretty at the top of the Bundesliga table right now thanks to some impressive results, including a 5-1 thrashing of Hoffenheim and getting past a quarter final in the DFB-Pokal. For Werder Bremen though, who are stuck down in the relegation zone on just 19 points from 21 games, and on a pretty grim winless run, this is a vital game – they really need to start picking up points if they’re going to climb out of trouble.

Match Summary

Bayern are in the driver’s seat, having put together an astonishing record (17 wins, 3 draws, 1 loss) and with an awful lot of goals to show for it. Their away form is also looking very solid – and they’ve even got a pretty impressive record at the Weserstadion, having won their last 15 visits.

To make matters worse for Werder, Bayern have a pretty sweet track record against them at Weserstadion too – and this time around, they’re going to be looking to improve on a 4-0 trouncing they handed the home team in the reverse fixture earlier this season.

Werder are down in 16th, winless in 11 league games and struggling to keep the ball out of the back of the net – so they’re facing a bit of an uphill battle here. This classic Bundesliga fixture has had Bayern coming on top not infrequently, but Werder might just get a little inspiration from their home crowd – and who knows ? Expect plenty of goals, though – over 2.5 has been a common occurrence in these two’s recent confrontations.

Head to head : it’s pretty clear that Bayern are the better team, which is going to make this a tough ask for Werder, who are just trying to survive at this point.

Possible Lineups

Werder Bremen (3-5-2): Backhaus starts in goal – he’s got Malatini, Friedl and Coulibaly in front of him, with Sugawara, Stage, Lynen, Schmid and Agu making up the middle – and Njinmah and Topp leading the attack.

Werder have a few injury concerns going in and there’s a pretty lengthy list of absentees but they do tend to rely on Justin Njinmah and Keke Topp to provide the attacking spark in a generally defensive set-up.

Bayern Munich (4-2-3-1): Neuer is in goal – with Laimer, Upamecano, Tah and Davies in front of him – behind a midfield of Kimmich and Pavlovic, with Olise, Musiala and Díaz attacking and Kane leading the line.

Vincent Kompany’s got a pretty solid squad with very few issues – and Harry Kane is probably the one to watch – he’s been scoring for fun so far this season. He’s backed by Michael Olise‘s creativity and Luis Díaz‘s recent form (he bagged a hat-trick in a cup game).

Prediction

Bayern are basically the odds-on favourite in this one since they’ve got the firepower, form and historical dominance at Weserstadion on their side. Harry Kane is probably going to add to his tally against Werder’s leaky defence, while Michael Olise and Luis Díaz will create plenty of chances for Bayern. Werder might just manage to get one on the counter, but ultimately Bayern’s quality and motivation to stretch their lead means it’s likely to be an easy away win.

Final score prediction: Werder Bremen 0-4 Bayern Munich
