Osasuna vs Real Madrid: Preview, Possible Lineups & Prediction
Osasuna will be hosting Real Madrid at the Estadio El Sadar on Saturday the 21st of February 2026. Kickoff time is 5:30 PM GMT – that’s 6:30 in the evening in both WAT and CET. Real Madrid, under the watchful eye of Álvaro Arbeloa, are currently top of La Liga and have their sights set on a ninth straight league win.
That would extend their lead at the top even further and would be a pretty big deal. Osasuna on the other hand are chugging along mid-table but have been in top form at home (they’ve gone a decent while without losing at the El Sadar) and are hoping to bring an end to a pretty dismal run against Madrid that goes all the way back to 2011 and 15 years.
Match Summary
Real Madrid are cruising at the top of the league right now, largely thanks to their recent form in which they’ve put themselves ahead of Barcelona.
Despite a few injuries, the squad have been finding the back of the net with some of their stars really stepping up in big games. The reverse fixture back in August 2025 ended 1-0 to Madrid. For Osasuna, they’re hovering around 10th in the league, but have been steadily picking up points and have shown some great resilience at home – and have Ante Budimir who’s been scoring a fair few goals for them.
You’d expect Madrid’s quality and momentum to give them the edge – they’re favourites to win this one. This fixture tends to produce some goals, expect Osasuna to try and catch Madrid on the counter and for Madrid to control large swathes of the game, which should lead to some chances.
But you can also expect Osasuna’s defensive organisation to cause them some problems early on, and their depth should ultimately help them out in the end.
Head to head, it’s very much Madrid’s league – they’ve beaten Osasuna 24 times, with not a single win for the Osasuna side to show for it.
Possible Lineups
Osasuna (4-2-3-1): Andoni Herrera in goal, with Rosier, Catena, Herrando and Galán forming the back four. Torro and Moncayola holding midfielder, with García, Oroz and V. Muñoz making up the midfield three and Ante Budimir worth keeping an eye on up front.
No news on any new injuries to report, but Iker Benito is out for the long haul, and Ante Budimir will be looking to score again after already netting 11 this season.
Real Madrid (either 4-3-3 or 4-2-3-1): Courtois in goal, Carvajal, Asencio, Rüdiger/Alaba and Carreras forming the back four. Tchouaméni, Valverde and Camavinga in midfield, with Güler, Vinícius Júnior and Mbappé forming the attacking trio.
Jude Bellingham is out with a hamstring injury until April, and Rodrygo is also sidelined, but Kylian Mbappé and Vinícius Júnior will be looking to cause some damage up front.
Prediction
With their league leading form, attacking firepower and need to secure three points, Real Madrid are clear favourite to take the win away from Osasuna. If Vinícius Júnior and Mbappé can find the back of the net then it’ll be tough for Osasuna to keep the score down, and the Madrid midfield should make it difficult for Osasuna to launch much in the way of counter attacks.
That said, Ante Budimir is a threat and El Sadar is a tough place for teams to come and play, but you get the feeling that Real Madrid will edge out a hard fought win.
Final score prediction: Osasuna 1-2 Real Madrid
