Liverpool vs Brighton: Preview, Possible Lineups & Prediction
Liverpool take on Brighton & Hove Albion at Anfield on Saturday, February 14 2026, and the Reds will be looking to make a splash in the FA Cup. The kick off is set at 8:00 pm GMT (that’s 9:00 pm WAT if you’re in West Africa). Arne Slot‘s Reds are on a mission to grab some silverware, having put up a solid Premier League campaign. They’re up against Fabian Hürzeler‘s Seagulls though, who are out for revenge after getting thrashed 2-0 back in December at Anfield.
Match Summary
The Reds are cruising along in the Premier League table and they’re really flying at home with Mohamed Salah leading the charge and Florian Wirtz getting creative with the ball. They’ve already had a pretty convincing run in the FA Cup with a few big wins under their belt. And as if that wasn’t enough, they’ve got the upper hand against Brighton – they’ve won 4 out of the last 5 meetings, and that includes the 2-0 league victory they got just a few months ago. Anfield is a fortress, but the Reds are having to make a few changes due to injuries and a pretty hectic schedule.
Brighton, on the other hand, are hovering around the middle of the league table, but they do have a few cards up their sleeves. They’re pretty handy on the counter and have players like Kaoru Mitoma and Yankuba Minteh who can make things happen. But when they take on the top teams, they tend to struggle away from home. This one is a bit of a rematch of the December league game where Liverpool pretty much ran the show.
The FA Cup tie might be a bit more open though – both teams are looking to create chances and score some goals. The crowd at Anfield should be going wild as the Reds look to book a spot in the 5th round.
Head to Head
Liverpool have a pretty clear edge here, and the games between these two teams tend to be pretty high-scoring.
Possible Lineups
Liverpool (4-2-3-1): Mamardashvili in goal, Gomez and Van Dijk in defence, with Wataru Endo out for the season with a foot injury and a few other key players on the sidelines. Mohamed Salah and Florian Wirtz are starting, but we’ll see who comes in on the wing, either Gakpo or Chiesa.
Arne Slot is making a few changes to the team due to all the players who are out injured – Conor Bradley is done for the season, Alexander Isak and Giovanni Leoni are sidelined as well. Mohamed Salah is in, and Florian Wirtz is going to be key in midfield.
Brighton & Hove Albion (4-2-3-1): Steele or Verbruggen in goal – they’re having a bit of a battle for the number 1 spot. Veltman, Van Hecke, Dunk and Kadıoğlu in defence, with Baleba and Gross holding midfield. Kaoru Mitoma is a threat on the wing, and Danny Welbeck is up front.
Fabian Hürzeler has a pretty healthy squad – just a few players are out for the long haul. Kaoru Mitoma is fast and can get down the wing and cause some problems, and Danny Welbeck up front is a handful.
Prediction
Liverpool are favourites to win on the back of their home strength, their squad depth, and their motivation to do well in the cup. Mohamed Salah is on fire at Anfield and can probably unlock Brighton’s defence – and he’s got Florian Wirtz to add some flair to the team. Brighton are going to try and get at them with Kaoru Mitoma on the wing, but I reckon the Reds have enough to see them off and get a win.
Final score prediction: Liverpool 2-1 Brighton
